Inspiration

Anel is inspired by colours, fabric, texture and most of all the perfection of our divine creator mirrored in the human form. She is motivated to complement the perfection of our creation in the garments she makes. Anel Botha is a product of Wesvalia High School and North West School of Design. She has excelled throughout her academic years, including attaining honours and “Designer of the Year 2006”.

She completed an internship, at Parys-based designer, Michael Bezuidenhout and started her own label in February 2010 called Anel Botha Couture. She has become one of the top designers in South Africa, appearing on Top Billing and SABC 3, as well as various other media including You, Huisgenoot, Drum, Sowetan, Klerksdorp Record and Your City.

Her designs have also been seen on the Red Carpet of You Spectacular Awards 2010 and the South African Traditional Music Awards, as well as on Big Brother Africa and at this year’s Skouspel in Sun City where Idol Winner, Andriette Norman performed in a burgundy ball gown designed by Anel.

Achievements

  • You Spectacular Awards 2010: Gugu Zuma (Lesedi in Isidingo) was voted Style Winner of the Night

  • Skouspel 2010: selected to design a ball gown

  • Morgan McBride won SA Top Model 2010 and Miss Uniquely You 2010 in Anél’s designs and won Best Evening Wear

  • Zee Dyason, Pagent Academy Owner and Local Model, wore one of Anél’s designs to Mrs Africa 2010 where she was awarded Best Evening Wear

  • Bonita Griessel won Miss Matlosana in one of Anél’s designs

  • Surien Leibenburg wore designs by Anél Botha Couture when she was named 1st Princess at Miss Africa Teen and won best Traditional Outfit in her category

  • J and B Met Fashion Competition 2010 won Most Elegantly Themed Couple

  • Huisgenoot / You Gomma Gomma Fashion Challenge 2007 was a National Finalist

  • Bridal Africa Young Designers Competition 2006 was a nationwide semi-finalist for her Avante Garde / Evening Wear Designs

    It wasn't a dream. His room, a proper human room although a little too small, lay peacefully between its four familiar walls. A collection of textile samples lay spread out on the table - Samsa was a travelling salesman - and above it there hung a picture that he had recently cut out of an illustrated magazine and housed in a nice, gilded frame.
